But wait!.... There's more!

Dahil Sa Tesda, May Choice Ka!

On Colorful Faces

I'm not an avid fan of make-up. In fact, I only use baby powder on my face and apply a little lipstick when I go out of the house. I don't even retouch with powder when my face gets oily, unless there's spare powder on my palm after refreshing my kids' back with it. I only use pressed powder and blush-on when I'll be meeting up with some friends. I may say, I'm tamad when it comes to things like these. I even remember that I was able to regularly put on heavy make-up only when I landed a job in Makati where I worked as an Executive Secretary, I was already told during my interview that I'm required to put on make-up as the job requires for it. So I didn't had a choice.

It was just recently, that I paid attention to this. Only because, there are a lot of blogs that has reviews on different make-up and they eventually hold giveaways for some of the products that they tried. And also, I was able to attend some workshops on make-up application, was even given the chance to have a make over in some of these workshops.

I admit that I learned a lot from those workshops that I've attended. It really caught my attention, most specially when I observe some bloggers who are really into it. I'm not saying that I'll put on make-up regularly from now on, but I realized that there are instances that I have to do it, not just for the sake of being pretty cause I know all are created with pretty faces, we just have to learn to appreciate. It gives me a sense of confidence and brings out the little kikay thingy in me.

These are actually the only pieces that I'm using (I haven't tried the lip palette yet):

Maybe, if given the chance and budget for it, I'll buy items every now and then and explore how colorful I can work on my face.

An Encounter with Mara and Clara

As a stay home home, I admit that I am somewhat addicted to watching teleseryes on TV. Even when I was still single I used to watch these type of shows which usually aires in the afternoon. Though I never get to watch them on a regular basis because of school since it is being broadcasted during school hours.

One program which caught my attention was Mara Clara which starred Judy Ann Santos and Gladys Reyes. As I remember it right, the show lasted for 5 years, 1992 to 1997. The story was based on a novel written by Emil Cruz Jr. Two babies switched when they were born, the rich became poor and vice versa. The story twisted as the 2 girls grow up with their known parents. Judy Ann as the bida and Gladys the contrabida.

Then the program was revived by the same station that aired it 19 years ago. Of course, with a new powerful cast. Mara is now being portrayed by Kathryn Bernardo and Clara by Julia Montes.

It kept me wondering if the new leads will end up to be best friends like Judy Ann and Gladys. We see them on and off cam to be the bestest of friends. They even got pregnant the same year.

Last week, my daughter and I went to Rockwell Powerplant Mall to claim a prize that I won in a facebook contest. While searching for the store where I will claim my new bag, a tall girl passed by my side calling her mom, I said to myself that she looked like Clara... I admit, I didn't know their real names then. But since I was busy looking for the store, I ignored her. Finally, when I reached my destination, I noticed the sales ladies busy taking hold of their cellphones, as if they are taking a picture. They were saying that Mara is in the other store. I was supposed to react and correct them that it was Clara and not Mara, but when I turned to look, I was surprised to see the two young girls at the opposite side. Star strucked, I grabbed my cam and dragged my daughter to the other store.

Guess what they were doing?

They were shopping together!

Could it be the answer to my question? Another best friend in the making, or are they already best friends before they were chosen to play the lead roles for the revival?

Whatever it is, I'm still happy with what I saw. This gave me a better reason to watch their show every night. And now, the more I hate Clara, the more I love Julia. Honestly, before seeing them in person, I told my husband while watching the show that when I see Clara in person, I will slap her for what she's doing to Mara. But of course, it was just a joke. How can I slap that pretty face? Shame on me.

A Night to Remember

Who would ever thought that a high school dream will ever come true?

And I also thought happy endings only happen in fairy tales.

When I was young, I always dreamt of spending a romantic candle light dinner, whether in a five star hotel or in just a private place. Somehow I thought it already happened when we had to eat dinner with candles in our dinner table because of a brownout :P. But then, come to think of it, that’s not valid, haha!

I never expected it to happen. I never really thought it will ever come true.

Thanks to Dove beauty soap, my dream materialized. My Valentine celebration did not end last February, I had another one this April, probably an advanced birthday gift…? A dinner date in a yacht! Woohoo!!!

I was contacted by Fernando of the Unilever team  2 weeks ago informing me that I won in Dove’s Valentine Promo. I was hesitant at first because it was almost April then and I can’t remember joining any contest from Dove. He reminded me of what I did on that promo. Mechanics was to post a romantic song and to tag my partner on that post, person tagged has to comment with lyrics from the song. And well after continuously scrolling down on their fan page, I finally found my entry:

The dinner was set in a private yacht owned by Mr. Jean O. Kim inside the Manila Yacht Club. The captain himself served our food which was prepared by Chef Tim Lee of Annabel Lee Restaurant.

Everything was so perfect... the candle light.... the wine... the ambiance...the gourmet food.... the water was so calm.... the wind was so cool....  I didn't want to wake up if it was just a dream. Almost forgot... there's fireworks too!

But I'm so glad it was not a dream. Everything was real, it really happened.

Thanks to this wonderful team...

But most specially thanks to Dove for making my dream come true!

Here's some shots of our food!

A Mom's View on the Internet Explorer 9 Launch

I'm not tech savvy, I'm just a Mom. But hey, I got an invite from Microsoft's Internet Explorer 9 Launch held March 21, 2011 at 6750 Ayala. And guess what?... I attended, weee!!! But of course, hubby came along with my Spongebob Little Troopers. My kids and I wore similar shirts, or should I say, sandos, with Spongebob print, just goes to show how non-techie I am, LOLZ!

We came in late, hehe, we were not able to register so we didn't get to join the games. My little son wanted to join Jitterbug, so they just played it when the games were over. They even enjoyed running around and eat lots of food.

When I turn my laptop on, which is everyday, my internet browser is what I double click first. This is the only application that I always use and never misses to open. I open my email and login to facebook, and that's it. It never crossed my mind that there are some tricks and advantages in using a good web browser. Does it matter which I use? After attending the launch, I realized that it matters.

I was overwhelmed with the community. They are so hyper. And I wonder if any of my kids will be like them, most specially my eldest is interested to become a hacker, and 1 more year he's off to college. As I watch the young crowd, only then that I realized how important this event is and the application itself. Is it an application? See... I don't even know what they call it. Everyone is so upbeat. And when Master Yoda, Mr. Dexter Quinn Yabut Dar, had his turn on the podium, then I learned a lot, as in a lot. Tricks that I never knew existed, those may be simple to the people who were there, but I have to admit, I have to ask my hubby everytime a new term was mentioned.

And this morning when I double clicked my IE, I came to the realization that there's more to browsing, not just playing games or checking statuses in FB, but there's a long way to learn more. Hopefully one of my kids will become one of those young people in the event. And a dream came to my mind, that someday, just maybe someday, one of my Spongebob Troopers will bear a company ID with the Microsoft logo.
